The ancient Greek Gods and Goddess contain a wealth of stories and legends, wrapped in Myths which typically provide a story with a morale code designed to influence the reader into behaviour as fitting Greek culture of the era.

Was the son of Taphius, and king of the Taphians, who sent his sons to demand a share in Electryon's Mycenae kingdom. When he refused them, they stole his cattle and sold them to the king of Elis. All of Electryon's sons were killed in the initial fray, except Licymnius. And so were most of those of Pterelaus. Electryon then gathered an army and set off to attack Pterelaus and the Taphians and their allies the Teleboans, but Electryon was recalled by Amphitryon who he had left as regent, and was killed, but of the expedition against Pterelaus, the outcome is not recorded, but it either failed, or never occurred due to Electryon's recall. Pterelaus also had a daughter named Camaetho, who would prove be his downfall. For it was reported that he was given a head of golden hair by Poseidon, which made him invincible.
