About Zetes

Was a son of Boreas and Orithyia, and brother of Calais, he like his brother was a personification of wind, from the little that is recorded, he represents short but very powerful bursts of wind, in opposition to his brother, who represented powerful but much more persistent wind. His sisters were Chione who represented sleet and snow, and Cleopatra, who represented the glory of her father, by that as the north wind is associated with winter, we could justly think her name, Cleo, signified the female version of Leo, and patra, stone, thus, the sun that turns things to stone, solid, frozen. As no doubt the ancient city of Petra, signifies city of stone.
