About Chariclo

She was follower or priestess of Athena, who had an affair with a shepherd named Everes, by whom she bore Tiresias (Teiresias), who was blinded by Athena when he came across her while she bathing, for seeing what no man should see. Chariclo pleaded for her son, and Athena was moved by her pleas but what was done could not be undone, so Athena took the serpent Erichtonius from her aegis and ordered it to cleanse his giving him the ability to communicate with animals, but fore-mostly birds, he became a renowned seer.
