About Ladon

Serpent that guarded the orchard that contained the tree of the Golden Apples, Ladon coiled himself around the tree' trunk with his head, or heads, lingering below the apples ready to strike. The orchard belonged to Hera, the wife of Zeus, and was looked after by the daughters of Atlas the Hesperides. oo
