The ancient Greek Gods and Goddess contain a wealth of stories and legends, wrapped in Myths which typically provide a story with a morale code designed to influence the reader into behaviour as fitting Greek culture of the era.

Pontus, was a primal sea-ocean god, he marries his own mother Gaia, and the union brings forth Nereus (old man of the sea,) Thaumas (awe striking, dangerous sea,) Phorcys (sea,) Ceto (wife and sister of Phorcys,) Eurybia (strong,) Thalassa (sea) and the Telchines and all that dwells in the sea. The Egyptians would certainly recognize him as Seth. Like Thalassa Pontus hair is seaweed, and just like her he is depicted with two grab claws emerging like horns from his head.
