About Sparta

She was the daughter of Eurotas and Clete, and married Lacedaemon, who was also her uncle, they had two children Amyclas (a legendary king of Sparta) and Eurydice of Argos. They say she represented a beautiful maiden who was worth protecting at all costs. Both defenders and Armies would shout her name, presumably to state their intention to do or die. The also report that Sparta was named after her, although the city was just as often called Lacedaemon.
