About Cranaus

Cranaus was the second mythical king of Athens, he was an earth born deity, he married a Spartan woman named Pedias, he had three daughters Cranae, Cranaechme, and Atthis. It supposed that Deucalion' flood occurred during his reign and that Deucalion with his sons Amphictyon and Hellen fled from Lycorea to Athens, where Amphictyon married one of Cranaus' daughters, after Deucalion had died, Amphictyon deposed and usurped Cranaus's throne. Cranaus apparently fled to Lamptrae, where he eventually died. It was reported that he was worshipped as a deity in Athens, his coming from the family Charidae.
