About Medusa

She was one of three Gorgons, her sisters Euryale [wide, roaming] and Stheno [strong] were said to be immortal, but their sister Medusa was mortal. All three names are titles of the Moon; those of the religion called Orphism, which was without doubt connected to the serpent of creation, and thus snakes, called the face of the Moon, Gorgon. OOOO
