The verses herein directly relate to France. Characters who are also connected to France are treated separately: see also, Italy, 3 Brothers, Mohammad, Spain, Queen. Additional verses will be added from time to time, and commentary as fitting based on the feedback received to Nostradamus on France.

Yellow Text indicates a link to a supporting book, century or verse from Nostradamus

We might consider that it is only natural for Nostra' to spend a lot of time, or verses on the future history of France. But it is not for any sentimental reasons, it is simply that France, either as a nation, or because of where it is, has been and it seems will continue to be central either to its own plans or those of others.

Napoleon, who should have been hanged or shot in 1815, if not 1812, was kept alive because Russia in particular, had ambitions to annex it into its Empire.

Germany not only had ambitions upon it in both World Wars, it did, even if only temporarily hold dominion over it.

According to Nostra, whether it be in this half of history, or that the follows, France will both be conquered and conquer. In this 3 part volume (view France">volume 1 or France">volume 3), we will look into verses that enlighten us on both aspects of France's future.

France not only plays a major part on both sides of history's fold, but its inability to act as one nation, brings endless problems. When France acts as a united nation, it is very powerful, but when it argues with itself, it is both vulnerable internally and externally. A headstrong nation, who will ignore even Nostradamus's warnings.

Oh, France, oh France,
You dance and dance,
As Cock and Eagle with Lions prance.
Viva la France, viva la France,
As your, columns are smashed
By the Barbarian's advance.

Nostradamus Century 6, Verse 23

By the spirit of the realm coins devalued,
And they will be provoked against their king (Roi);
New Peace made, holy laws worse,
Paris (RAPIS) never was in such severe disarray.

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 45

There will never be a single soul to ask,
The great MENDOSUS will attain his Empire,
Far from court he will countermanded,
Piedmont, Picardy, Paris, the Tyranny the worst.

Nostradamus Century 5, Verse 33

From the principle ones of the city rebellion,
Who will strive to cover their liberty;
The males hacked to pieces [more likely beheaded, a futile conflict,
Cries, lamentation, at Nantes piteous to see.

Nostradamus Century 1, Verse 20

At Nantes, Angers, Tours, Blois, Orleans, and Reims,
the cities vexed by sudden changes;
tents pitched by those of foreign tongues,
floods, rockets Renes by land and sea trembling.

All the cities of the first line except Reims are on the Loire River. It seems many non- speaking French people will set up tents; or, set up camps in the fields around these cities, but it not obvious whether they are enemies, thus besieging the cities, or perhaps refugees, who will cause troubles, by their needs. Oddly, JH. EL. & MR, have, rivers at the beginning of line 4. 'fleuves'= flood, stream, river. Considering the cities are all situated on rivers, it is surely flooding that would cause problems? But the real question is that presented by the 2nd and 3rd words of line 4, 'dards Renes', while Dards, is generally, darts, javelins, etc. generally a weapon that is thrown or launched into the air, thus in modern terms is likely to signify rockets? There is no apostrophe between the two words, leading the previous Authors to render the words as, darts- javelin, MR-spears at Rennes? Rennes is roughly 50 miles from Nantes and Angers as the crow flies, and obviously much further from the other cities mentioned. But is Renes a short version of Rennes? For Renes, in French is the same as Reines= Queen? Maybe she is the Rocket Queen, after all Elton John had his Rocket Man? I would rather think it is foolish not to discount the fact that there will be an all- powerful and conquering Queen in the future: why else would the land and sea, be trembling, when none of the cities mentioned are near the coast?

[absorb all, without presumptions, it is only possible to see through the still water, when your mind is free of all assumptions.]

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 13

The exiles around Sologne (N.central F, area of Loir-et-Cher.)
Led at night to march into Auxois,
2 from Modena cruel in Bologna? (both places in Italy.)
Place discovered by the fire of Buzancais (C.F.).

There are several places in the Cote-de-or area of France by the name ending in Auxois? Lines 3 and 4, difficult to frame correctly, more input needed.

Nostradamus Century 3, Verse 18

After a seemingly endless milky rain has fallen,
In a great many places, at Reims it touches the sky:
Oh- Alas! How close, the bloody slaughter that has been prepared for them,
Fathers and sons of kings will not dare approach.

Several points need discussion in this verse.

I find in the original, 'O quel conflict', at the start of line 3, as does JH: but EL, has 'helas quel meurtre.' MR. gives 'helasquel meurtre'?

MR, is as usual the worst copier, but in all honesty, there is no serious default, because, whether you take murder or conflict, death- slaughter is still the intended result.

Nostradamus often uses the word laict, lait, when describing some sort of rain, which has led to much conjecture amongst previous Authors. Many think he is describing some sort of plague, poisoned or perhaps acid rain. But in no way, could such rains cause Reims to touch the sky or heavens. My instincts tell me he is talking of Snow, white rain. Be in no doubt that Europe in general is edging towards climatic turmoil. It seems more likely that at Reims, the snow will fall for so long that the snow will meet the horizon, touch the sky? When the snows melt, all hell will be let lose in that area, but why and by whom lies locked in other verses.

Nostradamus Century 3, Verse 15

Of heart, vigour, glory the realm will change,
On all sides having its opposing adversary;
Then France through the death of one will be commanded by a mere child,
The great Regent will then be even more opposed to them.

Nostradamus Century 4, Verse 14

The sudden death of a first person,
Will cause changes and put another on the throne;
Soon, late issue, so high and so young,
Whom on land and sea, it will be necessary to fear.

By 'late issue' is signified that the child was born late in his father's life.

Nostradamus Century 10, Verse 93

The new Bark (pope) will accept the journeys,
There and close by to transfer the Empire;
Beaucaire and Arles will retain the hostages,
Nearby, 2 columns of Porphyry discovered.

Beaucaire and Arles are on the Rhone River, inland from Marseille. This verse has a twin (Century 1, Verse 43)

Nostradamus Century 1, Verse 43

Before the change of Empire occurs,
A very marvellous event will take place;
The camp transformed, the pillar of porphyry
placed, altered, and fastened (set) upon the rock,

EL. JH. MR, all give 'translate?' 2nd word line 4. Original has transmue, same as the English 'transmute', but not the same as translate, as EL, pretends. JH. MR. and the original has 'noilleux', end line 4, EL, gives 'noueux?' Noilleux, as 'noialliere' refers to a part of an orchard where the seeds-nuts etc. of fruit trees are set, to provide new stock. MR. states porphyry in Latin signifies purple? I know not which dictionary he gets his information from, but the Latin for purple is 'purpur' etc.

MR's translation of this verse has to be seen, to be believed, he has a 'the field will moult, a pillar'- in line 3??

Nostradamus Century 10, Verse 94

Of Nimes, of Arles, and of (by?) Vienna contempt,
For not submitting to western edict;
By the great one condemned to (hard) labour,
6 escape in seraphic (angel) clothing.

MR.

He pretends the word 'contemner' which for some reason he needs refer to Latin, when it was a perfectly legitimate French word, can paradoxically signify 'bravery?' my, my, he would have us believe, the moon is made of cheese. 'contemner' to scorn, despise, neglect, make light of, set at nought, thus contempt of- or for.

Nostradamus Century 10, Verse 34

The Gauloise, French one who attain the Empire through war,
Will be betrayed by his minor brother-in-law;
from an untamed vaulting horse falls, dragged to death,
caused by the brother who will be hated for a long time.

Nostradamus Century 10, Verse 26

The successor will avenge his brother-in-law,
To occupy the realm under the pretext of vengeance;
The hindrance slain his blood for death blamed,
For a long time, Bretaigne (Bretagne-a Brittany) will hold with France.

The last two verses must be twinned, [c 10, v's 34 & 26]. It occurs to me that it was not the minor brother-in-law that contrived the death, but either a brother, or major brother-in-law, of the one who gained the Empire, who engineered the fatal accident with the horse, but that the minor brother-in-law was blamed. While he remained alive, it hindered any reconciliation between France and Brittany. The real instigator of the deed, having made it appear justice had been served was able to weave an alliance between Brittany and the rest of France.

While politics are war in words,
just like wars with weapons,
it often leads to the real death of opponents.
M.

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 58

By the left-hand party, placed at Vitry,
They will come to spot the 3 Reds of France;
The reds slaughtered but the Black One not,
Through the Bretons restored to safety.

Bretons, Brittany, there are no less than 14 places in France that are called Vitry, I favour, 'Vitry-sur-Loire', or, 'Vitry-sur-Seine', because of their proximity to Brittany?

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 59

At La ferte he will seize the Vidame,
Nicolas will hold the Red, qu'avait produit la vie:
from great Loise he will claim birth,
giving Burgundy to the Bretons through envy.

JH. And MR. not only translate poorly, but the views on what the verse relates to are cobblers.

EL, & JH. Both take it as signifying 'la ferte Vidame? A commune in North France, in the region of Centre-Val de Loire. MR, has 'la ferte taking Vidame? The verse starts,

'A` la Fert/e prendra la Vidame.'

Thus, we read,

At La Ferte they take-apprehend, the Vidame.

Vidame is Latin for vice lord, or count, originally a royal or crown judge, but directly working for the protection of, and controlled by the Church. He true job so to speak was to deal out church justice in matters the church, did not formerly want to be connected to.

The basis of the story is that a child, will claim to have royal-red blood, and claim to be the heir of the great Loise, causing the Bretons through envy to claim authority over Burgundy (Bourgongne).

Nostradamus Century 7, Verse 10

By the great Prince bordering on Le Mans,
With the courageous and valiant chief of the great army:
By land and sea with the Bretons (Gallots) and Normans,
To pass Gibraltar, isle pillaged and Barcelona.

That which will be ravished by the young hawk,
By the Normans of France and Picardy:
The black ones of the temple from the place in the black forest,
Will make an inn and fire of Lombardy.

Nostradamus Century 6, Verse 60

The prince outside Celtic territory,
Will be betrayed, deceived by the interpreter,
Rouen, Rochelle, through those of Brittany,
At the port of Blay deceived by a monk and a priest.

Oddly, JH, has 'or America' in brackets following Brittany? As strange as it might seem to some Nostra very rarely says anything about America, and this verse certainly has nothing to do with the USA. Brittany, has a long association with British migration. It was called Armorica by the Romans, Bretagne generally by the French, by the likes of the historian Geoffrey Monmouth, Britannia minor, and Hadrian, [of the Wall fame] associated the goddess Britannia with England long before.

However, JH, makes nothing of it and falls into the same trap as MR. who links it to Francis 2nd of France etc. yet this would turn prophecy to hindsight, as Francis was dead before Nostra. Both Authors question whether the port of Blay was intended? But if this Celtic prince was outside his territory, for Brittany has strong Celtic ties, [a great many people from Devon, Somerset, Cornwall, all of Wales, etc migrated to Brittany over many centuries; thus, then Blay would certainly qualify as being outside of his Celtic territory.

Nostradamus Century 6, Verse 62

Too late will the 2 Flowers be lost,
The Serpent not wishing to be seen acting against the law;
The forces of the leaguers confounded by the Gallots (those of Brittany),
In Savona, Albenga by Monaco great martyrdom.

Savona and Albenga are Italian, part of the region of Liguria, while Monaco is a separate country, it is enclosed by France, on the coast near the French, Italian border.

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 52

The peace to be near on one side, and also war,
Never was the pursuit of it so great;
The men bewail, the blood of innocent woman on the land,
banned they will be throughout all of France.

After careful thought, and considering that I have already exposed, such events previously. Let us consider some points. Line 3 could make your senses want to read it as the blood of innocent man and women. For I see 'plaindre homme, femme, sang innocent par terre.' Indeed, EL. JH. MR. all seem to take it as referring generally to men, women and children. But consider,

'plaindre', to bewail, bemoan, accuse, blame, to find fault with, complain of- about; to grudge, or find himself aggrieved at.

Also, line 4 ends 'toute bande' all 3

Authors seem to have ignored the word 'Bande',

EL. - 'and this will be throughout all France'.

JH. - 'and this will be throughout the whole of France.'

MR. - 'this will happen all over France.'

Now the word Bande, = a band- properly a long narrow piece of any stuff. But the only reason Nostra has added the 'de', to the Ban, is to rhyme with 'grande' that ends line 2. Ban = a proclamation, (announced by voice or trumpet) an edict, or ordinance published; the pleasure or commandment of a lord proclaimed. Also, a proscription, outlawing, banning- banishment, etc.

There most certainly will be a proclamation made against all unmarried, or widowed woman, condemning them to death. Even the Bible speaks of the time when seven women will beg, one man, to let them carry his name; promising to ask nothing more of him, except that he take them as wives.

A voice calls out from the wilderness but nobody listens, or remembers; as France, does not heed the warnings of Nostra. Little wonder when considering, till now the Authors who have delved into his works, ignore the warnings in the first instance.

Trusting their transcripts is akin to believing
gold coins will fall from an empty coal sack.

Nostradamus Century 5, Verse 60

By the pestilent shaven one a thoroughly evil 'eslire',
More through his inability to bear his burden,
In a fit of rage and fury will command,
That all of one sex be slaughtered by bloody slicing and fire.

Eslire. A choice, election, a cull, picking out.

Nostradamus Century 8, Verse 80

The blood of innocent widows and virgins,
So many evils will be committed by the orders of the great Red One;
The images of saints immersed in burning wax,
Frightened and terrified none will be seen to move.

Nostradamus Presage 124.

Not much grain, but of other fruits of harvest plenty,
The summer and spring humid,
Winter long, snow and ice;
The East up in arms, the French to strengthen their forces,
Cattle and sheep to die, much honey, the country besieged.

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 55

In the year after those in the west having begun preparing for a horrible war, will come a terrifying plague, neither young, old, nor beast will be safe from it. Blood, fire, poison (Mercury), war (Mars), and Jupiter (thundering) in France.

Nostradamus Century 1, Verse 67

The great famine which I sense approaching,
Often occurring, then to become universal,
So, great and long that one will come to dig up roots of trees, and babes from the breast.

Nostradamus Century 3, Verse 51

Paris conspires to commit a great murder,
Blois will make sure it is put into effect;
Those of Orleans will want to replace their chief,
Angers, Troyes, Langres will cause trouble to them.

Nostradamus Century 8, Verse 42

Through greed, force and violence,
The chief of Orleans will come to vex his followers,
Near St Memire? Assault and resistance,
Dead in his tent they will say he sleeps within it.

Nostradamus Century 3, Verse 66

The great Bailiff of Orleans put to death,
It will be done by the bloody vindictive one:
By death deserved, nor dying by fate,
Through evil made captive by feet and hands.

I suspect he may be tied between two things?

Nostradamus Century 3, Verse 49

The realm of France will be very much changed,
The seat of Empire will be transferred to another place;
Other customs and laws will be set,
Rouen and Chartres will make things even more dire.

Nostradamus Century 4, Verse 61

The old one deprived of his place,
By the foreigner who will corrupt him;
The hands of his son eaten before his face,
His brother to Chartres, Orleans and Rouen betrayed.

Nostradamus Century 7, Verse 20

Ambassadors of the Tuscan language,
Passing the Alps and sea in April and May;
Those of the calf will explain the declaration,
That they have not come to change the French way of life.

Nostradamus Century 1, Verse 70

Rain, famine, war in Persia not ended,
Through too greater faith the monarch betrayed,
Finished there, begun in France (Gaul):
Secret warning for one to be moderate.

Those of the calf, are as the Jews who caused Aaron to produce the image of the Golden Calf: thus Catholics, with the papal Bulls etc. the faith of ancient Egypt. We must remember that the French we are talking about had become engrossed by the laws of the Arabs. As yet the French are predominantly Catholic, although in reality there is not a single western country which is not of mixed religions, or peoples. Everyone thinks their own version is true, but in the end, there can be only one truth.

Nostradamus Century 1, Verse 79

Bazas, Lectoure, Condom, Auch, Agen,
Agitated by laws, quarrels and monopoly:
Because of Bordeaux, Toulouse, Bayonne brought to ruin,
Wishing to revive the worship of the Bull.

Basically, all these cities are very near or part of the region now called Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Nostradamus Century 7, Verse 12

The great young one will bring an end to the war,
Before God, he assembles the pardoned:
Cahors and Moissac will be far from restrained,
Refused by Lestore (Lectoure?), those of Agen shaved.

Cahors, SW. France, Moissac, S. France. Considering the content of the verse, it is interesting to note that Cahors was infamous in the 14th century for its bankers who charged interest on loans. A practice condemned by the church at the time. Because of this the name Cahors became synonymous with that sin, and is mentioned in Dante's Inferno, alongside Sodom as wicked: thus, we should not be surprised that it is the capitol of Lot. [See Sodom- Lot, OT. And Wiki, for more.] nor then should we be surprised that they do not wish to observe God's laws, as the young man of the verse has come to put in place.

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 85

To pass Guienne, Languedoc and the Rhone,
Of Agen holding Marmande and La Reole,
To open through faith through the king, the Phocean will hold his throne,
Conflict coming near St Pol de Mauseole.

Nostradamus Century 1, Verse 27

Beneath the chain of Guyenne (Guienne) struck from the sky,
Not far from there is the treasure hidden:
That for many centuries had been gathered,
The finder will die, his eye burst by the spring of the lock.

EL, has 'oak tree' for chain? JH, MR. take chain, as mountain chain? Except there are no mountains in the area? All 3 Authors have confusing translations of line 3 and 4.

EL. He who for long centuries had been gathered, 4. Found he will perish, his eye put out by a spring?

JH. That which had been gathered for long centuries, 4. When found, it will perish, its eye put out by a spring?

MR. which for long centuries has been bunched, 4. It will die, the bud is burst on its re-emergence?

I fail to see how a person can according to JH, MR, an, it? And both give the impression that the treasure itself somehow dies? Quite obviously, the person who finds where the treasure is chained up dies breaking the lock, when a powerful spring bursts his eye and enters his brain. But I seriously doubt that this event will occur in this part of history.

Nostradamus Century 10, Verse 29

Of POL Mansol in the cave of goats,
Hidden and taken pulled out by the beard,
Led captive like beast Mastiff, by the people of Bigorre taken near to Tarbes.

Caprine = of Capricorn, goat like, goats. Tarbes is the capitol of Bigorre, in the Occitane region of SW France.

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 37

Bridge and mills overthrown in December,
The Garonne will be at greatest height,
Walls, edifices, Toulouse overturned,
So, that known will recognise his place like his mother.

Reads as if either an earthquake or a horrendous storm hits these places. Everything flattened and destroyed so that no one will know where their house stood. Nostra could not resist his dark humour and renders Toulouse, as Tolose, for it sounds like there is nothing left, to- lose, all is already lost.

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 72

Once again will the churches of the saints be polluted,
And robbed by the senate of Toulouse:
Of Saturn 2 of 3 cycles completed,
In April, May, people of a new belief- bread.

Nostradamus Century 3, Verse 45

5 strangers (foreigners) will enter the temple,
Their blood will come to profane the land:
To those of Toulouse it will be a harsh example,
By one who will come to exterminate their laws.

Profane. Make unholy, or use holy things for unholy uses, to change from holy use, to human

Nostradamus Century 6, Verse 98

Ruin for the Volcae (Volsque) from fear and great terror
Their great city (Toulouse?) stained, made pestilent: [see previous verse].
To pillage Sun a Moon and violate their temples,
And to redden two rivers with blood.

The Volcae were a Celtic tribe, of which there two main groups, the Arecomici, settled around the Garonne and Narbonne area. And the Tectosages, whose capitol was Toulouse, which gives me to think, that Toulose, is the great city eluded to, as in the previous verse Century 3, Verse 45.

Nostradamus Century 9, Verse 46

Red Ones, vacate, flee from Toulouse,
A purging by sacrifice to be made,
The chief cause of the evil hidden behind the cloaks of the judges,
Strangled the executioner will the throes of death interpret.

Has 'Carne omination' from Latin, Carni- executioner, butcher, hangman, scoundrel. Omination- deceiver, foreteller, predictor. Remembered in English as, 'ominous.' End line 3 'courges', which EL. & JH, render, pumpkin? And JH, as, imbeciles? When it is Cour, as court of law etc. merely bastardised to rhyme with rouge end line 1.

Nostradamus Century 2, Verse 74

From Sens and Autun they will come as far as the Rhone,
To pass over towards the Pyrenees:
The people will leave the region, or Marque, of Ancona,
By land and sea followed by a great train {baggage etc.]

Nostradamus Century 5, Verse 100

The fire setter trapped by his own fire,
From fire from the sky at Carcassonne and Comminges:
Foix, Auch, Mazeres, high old one escapes,
Through those of Hesse, the Saxons and Thuringia.

Nostradamus Century 5, Verse 98

At the 48th climatic degree,
At the end of Cancer (early July) great drought:
Fish in sea, river and lake baked dry,
Bearn, Bigorre through fire from the sky distressed.

Nostradamus Century 1, Verse 46

Very close to Auch, Lectoure, and Mirande, (all below Agen, towards the pyrenees).
Great fire from the skies will fall for 3 nights;
A very stupendous and miraculous event,
Very shortly after the earth to tremble (earthquake).

Nostradamus Century 8, Verse 2

Condom and Auch and around Mirande,
I see fire from the sky encompassing them:
Sun and Mars conjunct in Leo, then at Marmande lightning, great hail, walls fall into the river Garonne.

Now tell me you lying Authors, false no it all, that the verses are not twinned, and all interconnected?

Nostradamus Century 2, Verse 76

Lightening in Burgundy will cause an astonishing deed,
One that by ingenuity could never be done;
By the sacred senate made lame,
Will make the affair known to the enemies.

'sacriste' basically the keeper, one who looks after a church.

Nostradamus Century 1, Verse 80

From the 6th bright splendour of the heavens,
It will fall so strong in Burgundy;
Then will be born a monster from a thrice hideous beast,
March to June great culling (slaughter) and pestilence.

A few points need addressing on this verse. Quite obviously previous Authors have no idea what line one is telling us? In line two, EL. JH. & MR, have tonner=to thunder, instead of Tomber: I have not seen a copy with Tonner, if there is one, it is defective. Nostra is not telling us of a thunder storm, but an object or objects, falling from the sky-heavens.

Then I find EL, has at the end of line 2 and 4 respectively, Bourgongne and Rogne. JH. Bourgongne and Rongne; while MR, has Bougoigne and rongne?

The odd thing is the original has correctly, Bourgogne, and rongne. But, EL, for some reason took the first n, of rongne-giving, rogne, and placed it in Bourgo-n-gne. Then JH & MR, placed the 'n' back in rogne, giving rongne, but JH, left the n, in Bourgongne, instead of correcting it to Bourgogne, while MR, replaced it with an I, giving us Bourgoigne?

Nostradamus Century 4, Verse 17

Changes at Beaune, Nuits, Chalon and Dijon the Duke wishing to expel the Bar,
walking near the river,
a fish in a pigeon's beak,
will spot the trail, the door locked.

Nostradamus Century 2, Verse 50

When those of Hainaut, Ghent and of Brussels,
Will see the siege laid before Langres;
Behind their flanks there will be cruel wars,
The old wound, will cause more harm than the enemy.

Nostradamus Century 7, Verse 4

The Duke of Langres besieged within Dole,
Accompanied by those of Autun and Lyons:
Geneva (Swiss), Ausburg (Germany), allied with those of Mirandola (Italy), to pass over the mountains against those of Ancona.

Nostradamus Century 10, Verse 59

Within Lyon 25 of one breath,
5 citizens, Germans, bressans (those from Bresse, Eastern France.), Latins:
Through low noble leading a long train,
And discovered by the barking of Mastins.

Nostradamus Century 4, Verse 19

Before Rouen the siege laid by the insubians,
By land and sea the passages blocked,
By Hainaut, Flanders, Ghent and those of Liege,
Appeased by gifts, to ravage the shores.

Nostradamus Century 4, Verse 36

In France, they prepare for the renewal of the games,
After the victory of the Insubrian campaign; [after they have defeated the Insubre.]
Spies in the mountains, the great ones tied, and trussed,
In fear Rome and Spain tremble.

EL. JH. MR. render Romaigne, as Romania? The games are not of the Greek style. The Insubre are of Lombardy, Italy. Are Authors render 'Esperie' as West? It is from the Latin Espier-ir, to watch, spy etc.

Nostradamus Century 5, Verse 42

Mars elevated to its highest belfry,
Will cause the Savoyards {Allobrox-ges] to withdraw from France:
The people of Lombardy will cause great terror,
To those of the Eagle included under the Balance.

Nostradamus Century 4, Verse 37

The Gaul (French one) by leaps will penetrate the mountains,
He will occupy the great place of Lombardy;
His army will make even greater thrusts,
Genoa and Monaco will repel the Red fleet.

Nostradamus Century 7, Verse 31

From Languedoc and Guienne more than 10,000 will want to pass back over the Alps again:
Line 4. Aquin? and Bresse will come to drive them back.
Line 3. The great Savoyards to march against Brundis (Brindisi).

Confusion, there is an Aquino in the Lazio region of Italy, but those of Languedoc and Guienne are obviously in the Savoy-Lombardy area and wish to Cross the Alps back into France, only to be driven back by those of Bresse.

Brundis- Brindisi is in Apulia, southern Italy, on the Adriatic side of Italy's Heel? At the opposite end of Italy to the Savoyards?

Nostradamus Century 4, Verse 100

From the celestial fire on the Royal edifice,
When the light of Mars will fail:
For 7months great war, people dead through evil acts,
Rouen and Evreux will not fail the king (Roy). [or vice versa.]

Rouen, Evreux, both in Normandy.

Mars-Rome?

Nostradamus Century 5, Verse 84

One will be born of the gulf of an unmeasurable city,
Born to parents obscure and dark;
Who the power of the revered great king, (Roi)
Will want to destroy through Rouen and Evreux.

Nostradamus Century 1, Verse 90

Bordeaux, Poitiers, at his? Or, at the sound? Of the bell? (compane- compagne?)
A great fleet to go as far as l'angon, (Langon, on the Gironde River?)
The North wind will be against the French (Gaulois)(them)
When a hideous monster will be born near Orgon?

Odd verse. I see campagne, end line 1, in Original? EL. JH. MR, have compane=bell? Campagne=a field, large plain area?

Now Langon, seems the only obvious choice in line 2, but why render it l'Angon?

Monstre can most certainly signify a monster- but also a showing, appearance, perhaps an apparition?

So, what if the g in compagne was placed there without reason?

I see, 'tramontane' end of line 3, it should be 'tramontaine', thus I suspect, Orgon, requires us to remove the g and replace it with I, thus I would read,

'a hideous apparition will appear (be born) near Orion

Nostradamus Presage 2

The Tyrrhenian Sea, the Ocean through the guard,
Of the great Neptune and his trident soldiers:
Provence secured through the power of the great Tende;
More war at Narbonne by the heroic de Vilars.

Presage 2 and verse 59 of chapter 2, are almost identical, indeed so much so, that it beggars belief that no previous authors have mentioned it?

The verse and the Presage are about the same events.

Nostradamus Presage 45

Proposals made, nuptials recommenced,
The great, great female will leave France:
Voice in Rome will not weary of crying out,
Receiving the peace through too false assurances.

The word given in French which I have rendered Rome, is Romagna, it could be that the voice is heard in the region of Italy now known as Emilia-Romagna.
