There are many verses in Nostra's works that do not deal with any specific country. Others that are obscure, thus unique by their own right. Anyone who wishes to translate for themselves will find themselves pondering over them at some point. In this treaty, I intend to deal with these verses, for they are part of the story, the great puzzle. Nothing is done without reason, especially by Nostradamus.

Another 20 years of the Moons reign passed,
For 7000years another will hold its monarchy:
When the sun will weary of its days,
Then accomplished and finished will be my prophecy.
We are so ignorant of the past, present and future, that I am brought to dismay. The world you know is constantly changing, and only for the worse. Primarily because of us, but in less than 2000years humankind will in this world cease to exist. From, that time onwards only natures creatures will continue. Unhindered by us, those creatures that survive the great holocausts caused by us, will regain the earth, diversifying to fill every corner and niche of the earth. Whether the Sun dies 7000 or 100,000 years from now makes no difference, never again will mankind be seen on earth.
The scythe (faux) allied with the water (estang) towards Sagittarius,
In its high AUGE of exaltation,
Plague, famine, death by military powers,
As the cycle- century approaches its renewal.
If the scythe was a sign of the constellations, it would signify Scorpio, the sign of Autumn and harvests end. If Estang= great pond, pool, standing water, was a sign it would signify Aquarius.
And the signs run, Scorpio-Sagittarius-Capricorn, Aquarius.
Auge= trough, manger, or the carrier which I called a Hod, when bringing muck to the bricklayers. It may be applied as both a feed and water holder. Thus, we maybe, reminded that Aquarius used his great urn to hold the falling waters of the heavens: till it became too heavy and he fell backwards causing a deluge.
Both plague and famine and war were rife in the world as we approached the year 2000, and the renewal of the age. However, it would be foolish to think this period has passed or finished, for an Age is 2160years long. Nostra predicts a flood that will be on the scale of that of Noah, that is yet to come, while plague, famine and war are steadily increasing on a global scale, a peak that could still not be reached for another 140years?
In the city, obsesse,(from Latin, obsessi-o-onis= blockade-thus besieged) men and women at the walls,
Enemy outside the chief prest =ready to suurender:
The wind will be strongly against the gendarmes, = heavy horse, cavalry, well Armed troops,
They will be driven away through lime ash and dust.
Presumably, the defenders have a great supply of oyster shells, when burned they produce lime ash-dust, deadly stuff, blinding, as I well know.
A great loss, alas! There will be in learning,
Before the time-(cycle) of Latona (moon) is completed,
Fire, great flood and more through ignorant rulers {Sceptre holders}
that will not be seen reversed for a long time.
Those who by the virtue of the moon, as Venus, are led, causing great destruction to the world. Education will seem of little value, life survives by instinct, those gadgets that rule our lives will be gone, even the memory of them faded.
The female gymnast captured and held hostage
Will come by night to deceive the guards:
The chief of the army disappointed by her words,
Lairra to the people, it will be piteous to see.
The most amazing thing about this verse is line 1. In the original French, we have 'Gymnique sexe captive par hostage.'
Charles, A. Ward (1891) and JH, render it the same except they both change the 'v' of captive to a 'u'. EL. Renders it the same as orig' except he gives 'otage' instead of hostage, and MR, renders same except he gives 'hostaige'.
Little difference, you might think, but then comes the translation.
Female sex captive as a hostage?

A captive of the female sex?
How can 4 Authors totally ignore the fact that the captive is a gymnast? How! It beggars belief. The fact that Nostra bothers to tell us such a thing, catapults the verse forward in time. Gymnasts have only been seen as important during the last 40 odd years, and I do not know of one of them who was taken hostage and torn to pieces by the mob during that time. These Authors, if one can seriously call them that, are all charlatans, each one makes the same mistakes as his predecessors, with the exception of MR. who is but a -------.
They will think they have seen the Sun at night,
When they will see the Half Pig Man:
Noise, song, battle, fighting in the sky seen,
And brute beasts heard speaking.
EL. Has no real idea links it to Russia?
JH. Considers EL, comments but plums for later wars, considering the Half Pig Man, or men, as pilots with their flying masks on.
MR. drifts pointlessly into ancient Chinese mythology, almost as if he believes such tales are true history???
Certainly, we can imagine the soldiers etc. with the gas masks on, or fighter pilots with their masks, from the first and second WW. Appearing to look as if they had pig's heads.
However, there are several references to a man like this. Furthermore, one can only think, that if they thought they had seen the Sun at night, it was some sort of Atomic blast. But the 2 bombs dropped on Japan fell in daylight.
If it had been for line 1, I think it would have been hard to argue that the verse was about WW1, or WW2. As it is, I think the verse is as yet unfulfilled.
The plagues passed the population of the world diminished,
For a long time the world inhabited in peace:
Upon air, land and sea to travel (in safety)
Then new wars will be stirred up.
One might think this verse could fit in many places in time. Indeed, after WW1, came the Spanish Flu, which killed of more people than the war itself, and in a fraction of the time.
But the time between WW1 and WW2 was relatively short, a mere 21 years roughly. This verse most likely refers to the new wars arising after the 1000year peace; prior to the great peace the world population is due to fall so greatly it will be difficult to find enough people to plough, sow and harvest the fields: in fact, many lands will remain desolate and uninhabited for centuries.
A great mountain of about 7 stades,
After peace, war famine flood,
It will roll far sinking great countries,
Even-some, ancient ones and of great foundation-s.
I suspect the mountain will fall into the sea, sending a great wave that will destroy several countries and wash away even ancient foundation stones. There is a mountain opposite America which threatens to do just that, but when? Even so, I do not think for one moment that the East coast of America is the place concerned in this verse. For as I have said before Nostra has no interest in the future of the USA.
At great many of the ancient temples etc. have huge foundations, left over from a period of history still unknown to us. The average weight of a stone in the Giza Pyramid weighs 2.5 tonnes, a few weigh up to 80. But many ancient structures have foundation stones weighing from 200, to 400, and cut stone between 1000 and 2000 are not unknown? What we know of true history could be written on a pin head.
Child without power-hands, never was seen such a thunderbolt:
The Royal infant wounded at a game of ball.
On the hill, or at the well, torn off, grinded by lightning,
Three under chains trussed in the middle.
Very odd verse, difficult to tell whether a royal infant has his hands torn or burned off by a bolt of lightning while playing ball; or whether this child will become a nasty tyrant.? More input needed. 3 under chains, trussed around the middle, could be 3, who beneath a mountain chain are tied or trussed up: there is a verse that mentions something of that sort?
From where they thought to make famine come,
From there will come supplies,
The eye of the sea through canine greed,
For the one the other will give oil and wheat.
If there is one verse that would seem obvious in its intent, it must be this one. But MR, goes off on one of his futuristic flights of fantasy, see page 742 of his book.
Canine, is of dogs and all dogs are descended from wolves, and Hitler's UY-boats, submarines have always metaphorically been called wolves or Wolf packs. And their main intention was to intercept the supplies of goods from America, (wheat, oil, arms etc.) and EL & JH, have taken this direction.
However, that situation according to Nostra will occur again: we have even a character who is specifically called a Wolf, and it was not Hitler, remember it's never over till the fat lady sings.
Ready to fight one will desert,
The chief adversary will obtain the victory:
The rear guard will make a defence,
The faltering ones, dead in a white territory.
EL, Links the verse to Waterloo?
JH. Links it to Napoleons attack on Russia?
MR. Links it to the American civil war??? What!
It seems JH, comes nearest by sensibility,
But it could just as easily be linked to Hitler's failed attempt to conquer Russia.
Of the great number that the one will send,
To relieve those besieged in the fortress,
Plague and famine will devour them all,
Except 70, qui seront profliges.
Time after time the Authors rendered the profliges incorrectly,
EL, renders it as being from the Latin profligare= to overwhelm, ruin, destroy, and gives, who will be destroyed.
JH, renders it the same, and MR, takes it from the Latin, profligo=to dash down.
But in truth it is as the English, profligate= restless, extravagant; shamelessly immoral. In this case, it maybe debatable? Are they killed, or will they eat the flesh of others?
